&LadyMondegreen is an upcycling business that promotes sustainability by reinstating retired fashion. Perishing and unwanted garments find themselves in this green fabric junkie’s arms, to be reinvented as unique and innovative pieces.
A cool, unpretentious aesthetic is created from years of experience in the fashion and costume business. With her creative sense of style and excellent craftsmanship, &LadyMondegreen unites two essentials to transform ideas into reality.
Discarded clothing and materials are the power outlet to &LadyMondegreen’s sewing machine – they are her passion and your eco resolution en vogue.
The Lady behind the Business
A fascination for fashion and the desire to preserve and improve things have served as the basis upon which an upcycling business has been built. I don’t throw materials away, because there is always something to be made, an idea to be fulfilled which might need that particular material – for me waste is a No-Go, and I keep and reuse every fabric scrap, each shirt with wrecked edges etc., as they say “one man’s trash is another man’s come up” – your discarded clothing is the ‘up’ to my cycle.
When clothing and accessories are deemed ‘ruined’ by others because of irreparable holes, unwashable stains or simply because the fit just wasn’t right, &LadyMondegreen still sees value. This value is reinstated skillfully through miniature changes/invisible repairs or better yet through the fusion of multiple garments to create a unique piece. The possibilities are limitless.
I’ve always found it important, but have also enjoyed sharing these merits with my family; encouraging their various communities to take a closer look at what it means to value the materials that already so abundantly exist. Understanding that reusing and quite frankly reimagining, is always an option. If all fails, that’s where &LadyMondegreen comes into the picture- that’s where my upcycling process begins.
My work is meticulous and passionate, I esteem detail as much as I do these clothes’ and accessories’ past lives, because I have the honor of creating their future.
